AcqirisMAQS Software Simplifies Multichannel Data Acquisition Systems

Keysight High-Speed Digitizers Team announces a new version of its U1092A AcqirisMAQS Multichannel Acquisition Software. This application, providing unique features for massively multichannel acquisition systems, evolved together with all Keysight’s latest technologies, including the newly introduced M9709A AXIe 8-bit high-speed digitizer.

AcqirisMAQS proven software, designed specifically for large multichannel acquisition, enables configuration management as well as visualization of data for hundreds of channels from a single console. The client-server architecture supports remote operation, making it possible for the data acquisition system to be distributed over a LAN. This high-density, compact solution is currently being used for advanced physics experiments, such as hydrodynamics, plasma fusion, particle physics and microwave astronomy.

The fully configurable graphical user interface allows engineers and scientists to easily select instruments and measurement channels for the configuration of the acquisition parameters. Acquired data is presented in multiple, powerful display windows for immediate viewing. Each data display window is fully configurable, including the selection of the number of plot areas and axes. Additional display functions provide multi-record overlay, persistence, frequency spectrum (FFT with choice of windowing and selectable section of the signal) and scalar computations on each trace. A special option for triggered single shot experiments adds an advanced configuration manager, digitizer memory protection locking and fail-safe operation.

“We were proud to learn that one of our customers routinely uses our product for single-shot experiments with up to 300 channels,” said Levent Erbüke, software quality lead, Keysight Software & Modular Solutions. “This version of AcqirisMAQS adds a new dimension in massively multichannel acquisition systems by adding support for our latest generation of products, such as the M9709A, 32 channels, AXIe high-speed digitizer. With a unique combination of hardware, software and people, Keysight is providing engineers and scientists with research insights never seen before.”

Keysight’s multichannel digitizers contain all the timing and synchronization technologies needed to create synchronous sampling across 10s or 100s of channels at a time. For example, a reliable triggering and synchronization is essential to correctly recreate the event or process from captured data. More information about simplifying high-speed multichannel acquisition systems is available at AcqirisMAQS Multichannel Acquisition Software Document Library.

32–Channel, High-Speed AXIe Digitizer Delivers Industries’ Highest Density Modular Solution

Keysight High-Speed Digitizers Team announces the introduction of the M9709A 8-bit high-speed digitizer, providing 32 synchronous channels of 1 GS/s sampling in a single module. The M9709A, the industry’s unrivaled high-density solution, is ideal for multichannel applications in advanced physics experiments such as hydrodynamics, plasma fusion (Tokamak/Stellarator), particle physics and microwave astronomy.

The M9709A is a single-slot AXIe module, with 32 channels at 1 GS/s sampling rate and 16 channels at 2 GS/s when interleaved. The module can provide more than 500 MHz analog bandwidth. The digitizer also enables long acquisitions with its very large on-board memory of up to 16 GB.

To ensure high throughput, the digitizer provides a four-lane (x4) PCI Express Gen 2 backplane, enabling sustained data transfer rates of up to 1.2 GB/s. With four on-board Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs, the M9709A high-speed DAQ also optimizes measurement throughput and supports future customized implementations of high-performance data processing.

“This new AXIe digitizer dramatically simplifies the creation of very dense data acquisition systems that include a large number of high-speed synchronous channels with a large set of full-scale range to maximize the user dynamic range,” said Pierre-François Maistre, R&D project manager, Keysight Software and Modular Solutions. “In advanced applications such as high-energy physics experiments, the M9709A provides excellent measurement fidelity from DC to 500 MHz analog bandwidth with up to 6.9 effective bits, 52 dBc spurious-free dynamic range and 44 dB signal-to-noise ratio, which unlock unique insight into your measurements.

The M9709A AXIe digitizer extends high-speed digitizers family and the Keysight’s portfolio of AXIe based modular products. With an offer of several AXIe chassis (2- or 5-slot), the module provides a fully operational system of up to 96 channels depending on the chassis configuration.
